And then there's me, Fiona Snapple long black hair leotard and high heels...just like that Asian lady from Soul Train. MGMT can do no wrong, I love these guys.

I'm single. I've been single for quite some time. Oddly enough, I'm always single every single year on Valentine's Day...and it sucks. It sucks because I never get to experience the surprise flower delivery, box of chocolates, or special dinner...not even a mixtape of love songs. Now if you're thinking "It's not all that" or "I'm not missing much because it's too stressful" please spare me the patronizing bullshit you're obviously NOT single. I am and since the grass always appears to be greener just once I want to partake in the commercialized tradition of showing you care by giving gifts and buying candy also known as Valentine's Day. So I got to thinking, "why not?" Surely I can't be the only one who feels this way, so why not get people together and have a Valentine's party, complete with a gift exchange! You give a gift, you get a gift, no strings attached. We did it in grade school (remember candy hearts..love those!) so think of this as a modern and grown up V-Day party. Only with alcohol and better snacks. Genius.

Jeffrey Campbell creates the illest shoes I've ever seen. I'm not one for spending hundreds of dollars on shoes...but for JC I'm thinking of making an exception. They're so beautifully bizarre that every time I look at them my heart beats just a little faster. My imagination is sparked, wheels start turning, and whatever I was thinking before becomes a blur. Without even putting up a fight I helplessly succumb to virtual lust followed by endless daydreaming. Anything that can elicit that type of energy is worth the investment, right?
It's been quite some time since I was invited to a wedding as a guest and not a participant( i.e. a bridesmaid) Yes always a fucking bridesmaid, never a bride but that's neither here nor there. The thing is I was invited to this wedding months ago and it just occurred to me I don't have anything wedding-worthy to wear. I've been looking around online and just when I think I might have a winner I stop myself with a billion questions. Is this weather appropriate? Can I wear black? Is this too casual? Is this too formal? Is this too short? Does it look like I'm going to prom? Does this look like I'm going to work? The questions don't stop..it's like I've got my own little quality control checklist in my head. Am I putting too much thought into it? See...another fucking question. I can't help it though, I pay attention to detail. I need help people, what the hell do you wear to a wedding in the middle of September?

H&M announced on their Facebook page this morning their plans to open new stores this week and.............they're launching a shop online in the U.S. in the beginning of 2012!!! Whoo hoo!!! I'm not sure if the perfect shoe exists, but I know the Dany platform heels from Jessica Simpson come pretty damn close. I've wanted these shoes ever since I first saw them and apparently so has everyone else! From day one trying to get a pair has been anything but easy. They were sold out in almost every size, every color, on every website that sells them!! I devoted a little of my time each day hopelessly checking site after site and site after site I would leave empty handed. I finally went to straight to the source (Jessicasimpsoncollection.com) pleading in an email to have their stock replenished. To my surprise, I received an immediate and friendly reply of "we're sorry but we will not be restocking the Dany, however there are other websites that still have them available" (umm no, they're all sold out just like you!!) Yep it was a FAIL. They were kind enough to remind me that there were two styles still available in my size, Pewter and Plum. Ok so I exaggerated a little not every shoe was sold out but there's a reason these two were still around...they're like sisters from the same family, sure they're pretty but not as good looking as their siblings. After sulking and searching for a few more days I finally decided I would give one of the ugly ducklings a try. Thank goodness for my obsessive diligence because even though purple isn't my favorite color, especially purple velvet (can we say Willy Wonka?) I've come to love these shoes! They're absolutely perfect! The online picture doesn't do them justice, the velvet is very smooth and thin and tasteful. These shoes can be worn with everything dresses, shorts, harem pants, socks, tights, the possibilities are endless (I know because I've played dress up with them for hours)!
I saw this Baby Phat dress in Lucky magazine earlier this month and I've been dreaming about ever since. Stepping out in this wont be a bad start to 2011...

There's nothing like seeing a live band. Nothing like seeing a live band that's amazingly awesome, dope, fresh, stupid dumb good like The Roots. A couple of weeks ago my homegirl and I saw them at Ram's Head Live in Baltimore. Side note: if you ever have the opportunity to see a band at a venue that's standing room only...GO!!! Maybe it's just me but I've had nothing but luck at said venue...I mean you put me in a place that's standing room only and I'm going to be in front of the stage, bottom line. It's awesome when you can be up close and personal right in the thick of it, taking in all that energy! There's a real feeling of intimacy when you're so close to the band that you can make eye contact. It worked out well because I was able to get some pretty good pics and video too. I've never seen The Roots live before and I thought I knew, but I had no idea just what I was in for. They put on a high impact, high energy show. Even if you don't know their music you can still appreciate the showmanship, and the hella positive vibe they give. I was really surprised at the diversity of the crowd, there were college kids, baby boomers, yuppies, and hipsters all under one roof! The Roots were hands down the best band I've seen perform live. I appreciate how they arranged the songs, I swear if it weren't for the lyrics you'd have thought it was new material. I had such a great time and no doubt will make my way to another show next time they're around. Click here for my snapshots of the show.

Writing is something very near and dear to my heart. I remember when I was a kid writing short stories, songs, and poems all the time. Somehow as time went on I lost touch with my passion for creation and decided when I was making this list that I would write whenever I felt something. Anger, passion, sadness, anything at all the objective was just to write. And so write I did.
